Taking my cash out and storing it at home would be very unwise.
Is there an account out there that where I can place the money and they cannot touch it?
A brokerage firm representative told me that they cannot use my money for lending purposes. Is that a good place to store the cash?
Thanks,
There aren't many options if you want to be liquid. The line between brokerages and banks is much thinner than it used to be, but if your broker told you they are restricted from lending then I'd suppose it was true.
If you don't need to have quick access to cash, it may be better to invest in a diverse range of commodities, like gold, silver, oil, even food.
Old silver coins are available online and at coin shops and are easily exchangeable for reasonable amounts of paper if you need it. The benefit is that your wealth is tied to an asset of which there is a fixed amount. Whereas paper money can be, and in fact is being, printed in massive quantity - diluting the value of your wealth.
Putting money in a bank (or anywhere else for that matter) does not help you maintain your wealth as any interest rate offered is not going to compensate for the exponential inflation which the many central banks around the world are now putting their citizenry through.
The above graph shows an estimate of the US M1 (gray line). The M1 is a measure of total money supply. As you can see the M1 is growing at an extreme pace. It will take time for all those dollars to come home to roost, but when they do, people will be much much poorer
